Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder, Jake Taylor, on a permanent deal.

The 31-year-old has joined the Spitfires following his departure from Stevenage after being at the Hertfordshire club since the summer of 2021.

Jake is a graduate of the Reading academy, and made 31 senior appearances for the club after being at the club from the age of 8 years old.

The Welsh international also had loan spells at Aldershot Town, Exeter City, Cheltenham Town, Crawley Town, Leyton Orient, and Motherwell before departing Reading permanently in 2016.

Taylor then joined Exeter City in January 2016 and spent five and a half years at the club, making 226 appearances and scoring 29 times during his second stint in Devon.

After his spell at Exeter City, he joined Stevenage where he had been since 2021 before he left the club following the 2022/23 season.

When asked about joining the Spitfires, Taylor said: “I’m very excited. It’ll probably be a little while before pre-season comes around so I’ll enjoy time with my family at home. When it’s time to come back, we’ll get cracking!”

Eastleigh boss, Lee Bradbury, said: “Jake’s been somebody I’ve liked for years. He is a great central midfielder with energy and can run the game with his intelligence and his play.

He gets goals as well as being a really good team player. It’s a marquee signing for the football club to attract somebody that has been promoted out of League Two this season is excellent. Thank you to the club for allowing me to sign him.”
