The Spitfires are back on the road in the Vanarama National League, as we take on the league leaders, Barnet, at The Hive on Friday 18th April, with kick-off at 5:30pm.
Barnet:
The hosts will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the National League to edge closer to a first return to the Football League since their League Two relegation in 2018.
Barnet are coming into this game off the back of a 1-1 draw against local rivals, Wealdstone on the weekend. Despite taking the lead through Adebola Oluwo, Wealdstone responded in the 80th minute with a Harrison Sohna equaliser to put a slight dent in the plans of the Bees.
The champions-elect sit six points clear at the top of the table with York City hoping to keep the pressure on the London-side.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires will be looking to bounce back from a humbling defeat at the hands of Rochdale who put four past the Spitfires without reply on Saturday afternoon.
Eastleigh’s top scorer, Tyrese Shade, will be aiming to add to his current tally of 12 goals this season. One of those goals came in a 1-1 draw against our Good Friday opponents back in January at the Silverlake Stadium.
The Spitfires now occupy 14th place in the National League, and will be looking to pull off an upset against the league leaders to kick-off our Easter weekend.
Davis’ Pre-Match Thoughts:
Davis: “I think they’ve still got work to do and they’ve got points to pick up, so they’ll be looking to try and gain them as quickly as possible. We play York as well, last game of the season, so it’s for us to look at ourselves and decide on how we want to finish the season.
“Finishing the season on 54 points isn’t what we want to achieve. We want to collect as many points as possible, and improve on our points tally from last year, but what I feel has been a positive season to a point, and what I don’t want to do is let our season just disappear and we end up bottom half of the table, because I don’t think we deserve that.”
