The hosts had the first look on goal, with Tyrese Sinclair having a dig from range. Joe McDonnell got down low to stop his effort.

The next chance of the game came in the 18th minute, when Cameron John sent the ball sailing over the crossbar.

Shortly after this, Ryan Fallowfield broke into the box and had a go on goal from a tight angle. His shot was denied by McDonnell who got down low to produce a fine save.

The Spitfires first chance of the game was best of the lot at the start. Chris Maguire dribbled through the York defence to have a go on goal, but saw his right footed shot get matched by Harrison Male.

Jake Vokins slid the ball across goal into the path of Paul McCallum just before the break. McCallum gets down low to connect with the ball, but can’t quite find the target meaning the two sides would be level gong into the break.

Maguire ran in between the York defence, after being found by McCallum. He shot from the edge of the box, but saw his shot get matched by Male.

John had a go from the edge of the box in the 68th minute, but saw his powerful shot get blocked by Jai Semenyo.

Following this, Ollie Pearce had two shots on goal, with both shots being matched by McDonnell.

Dipo Akinyemi squared the ball to Pearce not too long after this, but Pearce could not find the target with his shot.

York continued to push for a goal in the closing minutes, but could create a good enough opportunity to get any real shots off. The game ended in a goalless draw.
