The Spitfires are back in Vanarama National League action for the second time this week. We travel to North Yorkshire to face York City at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday 28th September, with a kick-off time of 3pm.

York City:

The Minstermen have been in red hot form to start the season, and find themselves in second place after the first 11 games.

Their only defeat of the season came against Boston United back in August. They are unbeaten in their last six games.

Last time out, they travelled to the West Midlands to face Solihull Moors. They beat the Moors 3-0, thanks to a brace from Tyrese Sinclair and a goal from Ashley Nathaniel-George to back it up.

The North Yorkshire side have the best defensive record in the league so far this season, having only conceded six goals.

York City’s last five results:

24/09/24 | Solihull Moors 0-3 York City | VNL

21/09/24 | Aldershot Town 0-0 York City | VNL

14/09/24 | York City 3-0 AFC Fylde | VNL

10/09/24 | York City 2-1 Braintree Town | VNL

07/09/24 | Wealdstone 0-2 York City | VNL

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires have been at home for their last two games, with the most recent one being a clash with Woking.

Tyrese Shade got himself on the scoresheet for the first time in Eastleigh colours early on in that one, with a strike from the edge of the 18-yard box.

A late header from Chris Maguire helped the Spitfires to pick up a point against the Cardinals under the lights.

Previously to that, Rochdale visited the Silverlake Stadium. After conceding in the sixth minute, the Spitfires turned things around in impressive fashion and beat the Dale 4-2.

Paul McCallum found the back of the net twice and registered an assist in that one, leading to him earning a spot in the Vanarama National League Team of the Week.

Previous meetings:

The two sides last met at the LNER Community Stadium towards the business end of last season. A late goal from Luke Croll gave the Spitfires a win following a dramatic game that saw two York players get sent off.

Earlier on in the season, the Spitfires managed to beat the Minstermen at the Silverlake Stadium too.

Since York City returned to the Vanarama National League, the Spitfires have won in all four of the meetings between the two sides.
