The Spitfires are back in Vanarama National League action for the second time this bank holiday weekend. We host Sutton United at the Silverlake Stadium on Monday 26th August, with a kick-off time of 3pm.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires made it four wins in four on Saturday, as we faced Altrincham up in Cheshire.

A tight game of fine margins was played out at the J Davidson Stadium. Scott Quigley was brought down in the box late on, earning Eastleigh a penalty.

Chris Maguire unsurprisingly would make no mistake from the spot, he sent Ethan Ross the wrong way and slammed the ball home to give us the lead.

Altrincham would pile the pressure on following this, but the Spitfires held out and secured the win, giving us our sixth consecutive win and clean sheet on the road.

Sutton United:

The afternoon’s visitors have also had a positive start to their season. They have won twice and drawn twice in their opening four games.

In their last outing, they hosted York City at the VBS Community Stadium. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, with William Davies and Josh Coley being the U’s scorers on the day.

They travelled to Wealdstone in their game before that, and were 1-0 winners at Grosvenor Vale that day.

Coley has registered three goals in the first four games of the season, and will be one to watch for the Spitfires.

Previous meetings:

The two sides have not met for over three years now. Sutton United won the league back in the 2020/21 season, and achieved promotion to the football league, which is where they remained up until this season.

The last time the sides met, the Spitfires came out on top as we beat this afternoon’s visitors 1-0 at the Silverlake Stadium.
