It’s time for some more pre-season action for the Spitfires as we travel to Wiltshire to face Chippenham Town at Hardenhuish Park on Tuesday 30th July, with a kick-off time of 7:30pm.

Chippenham Town:

This evening’s hosts were in action over the weekend, they travelled to the Oakfield Stadium to face Southern League Division One South side, Melksham Town.

The Bluebirds lost 2-1, with one of their trialists being their only scorer on the day.

They did earn a more favourable result in their game before that though. They won 3-1 against Hungerford Town on their visit to Bulpit Lane.

This will be the National League South side’s penultimate pre-season fixture before they face Farnborough on the opening day of the season.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires were last in action just two days ago as we played League Two side, Swindon Town at the Silverlake Stadium.

Solomon Nwabuokei put his name on the scoresheet in just the third minute, and would not be joined by anyone else as the Spitfires went on the secure the win, earning a clean sheet in the process.

Earlier that week, we faced Weymouth – who are in the same division as this evening’s hosts – and drew 2-2 with them at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Scott Quigley was one of the Spitfires goal scorers that day. This was his second goal of our pre-season campaign, with the other coming against Premier League side, Southampton.

Previous meetings:

The two sides most recently met almost three years ago in a pre-season friendly at Hardenhuish Park, a ninth minute strike from Harry Pritchard and an own goal from the hosts meant that the Spitfires drew 2-2 with the Bluebirds on the day.

We are approaching 13 years since the two sides last had a competitive meeting. They met in an FA Trophy tie that ended with the Bluebirds beating the Spitfires in a replay of the fixture.
