Pre-season action continues for the Spitfires as we host Swindon Town at the Silverlake Stadium on Sunday 28th July, with a kick-off time of 1pm.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires have already been in action this week, they travelled to Dorset to face Weymouth on Tuesday night.
A low-driven strike from Scott Quigley and a late header from Paul McCallum saw the Spitfires draw 2-2 against the former National League side.
Last Friday, Premier League side Southampton brought a strong squad to the Silverlake Stadium for another friendly. The Saints came out on top that day, although Quigley did manage to get his name on the scoresheet again.
This will be the final time the Spitfires will play at home this pre-season, with their next home clash coming on the second National League game week of the season against AFC Fylde. The Coasters will make the trip down to Hampshire on the 17th August.
Swindon Town:
This will be the Robins penultimate pre-season fixture, they have been in action four times already so far and have been the winners in each of those games.
So far, all of their opponents have been in divisions below the Spitfires so on paper this should be their toughest test yet.
Their four wins came against Swindon Supermarine, Hungerford Town, Melksham Town and Highworth Town. Their biggest winning margin came in their first fixture, they beat Swindon Supermarine 4-1 with Paul Glatzel, Jake Cain and Jason Brown all getting their names on the scoresheet.
Previous meetings:
The Spitfires are unbeaten against this afternoon’s visitors in all of their previous five meetings. This will be third year in a row that the two clubs have met at the Silverlake Stadium for a pre-season fixture.
The last competitive meetings between the two sides came back in 2016 when the Spitfires beat the Robins 3-1 in an FA Cup first-round replay at the County Ground.
