It’s time for our first home pre-season fixture. Southampton will make the short trip up the road to face us at the Silverlake Stadium on Friday 19th July, with a kick-off time of 7pm.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires were in action six days ago, we made the trip over to Dorset to face Wimborne Town at New Cuthbury.

Goals from Tyrese Shade, Jake Taylor, Chris Maguire and Richard Brindley helped the Spitfires soar to a 4-2 win.

Every one of our new summer signings featured in the clash, they will have an opportunity to play in front of a their home crowd for the first time this evening.

Tonight’s fixture will be our second out of six during pre-season, with our next game being a trip to Weymouth on Tuesday night.

Southampton:

This will be Southampton’s first of seven pre-season tests, and their first game since they won the play-off final against Leeds United to earn promotion back to the Premier League in May.

Adam Armstrong’s 24th minute strike earned them victory at Wembley that day which saw them return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

During the week, Southampton secured the permanent signing of Flynn Downes. He won the Southern Daily Echo Player of the Year award during his loan spell there last season.

Previous meetings:

The Spitfires have not met Southampton’s first-team for over a decade now. Each of the previous meetings between the clubs have been friendlies.
