Eastleigh Football Club can confirm that Aaron Martin has announced his retirement from football at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
The 34-year-old began his youth career with the Spitfires in 2003 before he broke into the first team in 2007 and went on to make 41 appearances scoring four goals in that time.
Following his first stint at Eastleigh, Martin made the jump to League One where he joined local neighbours, Southampton FC.
Aaron built up plenty of further Football League experience in his career having spent time at Coventry City, Birmingham City, Oxford United and Exeter City.
He spent a year in Scotland at Hamilton Academical before joining Port Vale in 2021 where he would go on to make 29 appearances in League Two as the Valiants won promotion at Wembley.
The centre-back then made his return to the south-coast in 2022 where he has made over 40 appearances.
Upon announcing his retirement, Martin said: “I would just like to say a massive thank you. I can’t thank the Eastleigh supporters enough, really. There will be some supporters that were there from the very beginning, the ones that saw my first game and some will now see my last game. So that for me is an incredibly special moment and I’m sure it will be for a lot of the fans as well.”
We would like to thank Aaron for all of his efforts and wish him all the best in retirement!
