The Spitfires Emirates FA Cup journey continues as they host Newport County in a third-round replay at the Silverlake Stadium on Tuesday 16th February, with a kick-off time of 7:45pm.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires have a chance to make it further than they ever have done before in the Emirates FA Cup.
We have reached this stage two times before, in the 2015/16 season and the 2016/17 season.
In 2015/16 the Spitfires fell to defeat against Bolton Wanderers in a replay, in 2016/17 the Spitfires were beaten by Brentford at Griffin Park.
Last time out, the Spitfires faced Southend United in the Vanarama National League in what was a narrow 1-0 defeat. Jack Bridge’s 53rd minute penalty was enough to get the Essex side over the line that day.
Despite not scoring in either of our last two games, Paul McCallum is still on three goals in three games so far this year. He will be hoping to add more goals to his ever-growing tally during the game.
Newport County:
The visitors are no strangers to this stage of the competition.
In three out of the last six seasons the Exiles have been knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Premier League opposition.
They played Brighton & Hove Albion in their most recent visit to the third round of the competition came in the 2020/21 season, they lost 5-4 on penalties to the south coast side on the day.
Our visitors have also been in action since the last time the two sides met, they travelled up to Doncaster for a League Two clash.
Seb Palmer-Houlden scored a 93rd minute opener in the tie to earn them the win.
The Exiles climbed up to 17th place in League Two after 27 games played following the win.

The two sides met 10 days ago in South Wales but could not be separated.
George Langston was sent off for the Spitfires in the 38th minute, Newport took the lead in the 56th.
Chris Maguire cancelled out their lead with an 82nd minute penalty to force the replay.
Before that match, the two sides had not faced each other for almost 14 years.
