The Spitfires are in action again in the Vanarama National League as they face Gateshead at the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday 9th September, with a kick off time of 3:00pm.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires were held to a 0-0 draw last time out away at Dorking Wanderers. Joe McDonnell’s 79th minute penalty save meant that they had to settle for a point in a game that they largely dominated.

Richard Hill will be going into his third game as interim-manager. The Spitfires have been undefeated since he took the reigns and they will be hoping to keep that up this Saturday.

Chris Maguire will be one to watch for Gateshead. He has impressed in his first seven games for the Spitfires, directly being involved in four goals so far this season.

Gateshead:

The visitors earned a point last time out against Oldham Athletic thanks to Stephen Wearne’s 87th minute equaliser at the Gateshead International Stadium.

They sit on a tally of nine points after their first seven games this season without a win in their last three games.

Stephen Wearne and Marcus Dinanga are both in fine form and have scored four goals each so far this season, the Spitfires will be looking to keep them quiet as they travel to the Silverlake Stadium.

Previous Meetings:

The most recent meeting between the two sides at the Silverlake Stadium ended 2-5 to the side from the north-east with Charlie Carter and Kairo Mitchell scoring for the Spitfires and Aaron Martin (x2), Adam Campbell, Greg Olley and Owen Bailey scoring for Gateshead that day.

Their previous game that season ended in a 1-1 draw after Dan Jarvis cancelled out Ryan Hill’s goal in the 74th minute to deny the Spitfires the win as they travelled to the Gateshead International Stadium.
