Eastleigh make the long trip north to the Shay Stadium to face Halifax Town on the final day of the Vanarama National League season on Saturday 29th April with a 5:30pm kick-off. Preview in association with Unibet.

FC Halifax Town:

Halifax Town enter the game in red-hot form having won 1-0 away at Woking last weekend to extend their unbeaten streak to seven matches.

The Shaymen also have an FA Trophy final to look forward to on the 21st May against Gateshead having beaten Altrincham on penalties to secure their spot at Wembley.

The Northerners are currently second in the form table only behind Notts County by one point in the last six matches.

This upturn in form has helped Halifax Town into 10th position, top of the four-team mini-league on 60 points and cannot climb the table further but could finish as low as 14th should results go against them this afternoon.

Striker Emmanuel Dieseruvwe is the Shaymen’s top scorer with 13 goals for the campaign, with attacking midfielder Millenic Alli four behind on 9 goals for the season.

Eastleigh:

A brilliant campaign was brought to an abrupt halt as the Spitfires’ play-off hopes were all but ended with a 0-0 draw against Solihull Moors last week.

Despite being reduced to 10 men after Christian Maghoma was sent off in the first half it was Eastleigh who pushed for the winner without the desired outcome.

The Spitfires now sit in ninth position, two places and three points off the final play-off spot but due to Boreham Wood and Southend’s superior goal difference Eastleigh would require a victory alongside Southend failing to win and Boreham Wood to lose with a 10-goal swing in their favour to creep back into the top seven.

Despite the disappointment it has been a superb campaign for the Spitfires’ players and they will look to end on a high with the club’s top scorer Danny Whitehall looking to add to his tally of 15 goals this season, while Charlie Carter who is also in double figures with 11 goals looking to keep his place as the most productive wide player in the league.

Fixture History: The Spitfires won the reverse fixture at the Silverlake Stadium in September defeating Halifax Town 1-0 thanks to a goal from Carter in the 23rd minute

The two sides have faced off 16 times in their history with Eastleigh having won seven, the Shaymen having won four, and the spoils having been shared five times.
