Eastleigh are back on the road as they make the long trip to Meadow Lane to face Notts County in the 38th matchday of the Vanarama National League on Tuesday 14th March with a 7:45pm kick-off. Preview in association with Unibet.
Notts County:
Title-chasing Notts County got back to winning ways at the weekend coming from behind to defeat Dorking Wanderers 3-1 at Meadow Lane.
The Magpies had not won in their previous two fixtures prior to the weekend drawing to Bromley after losing to Dagenham and Redbridge.
Those five points dropped, saw Notts County relinquish a one-point lead at the top of the National League, and the Magpies now trail Wrexham by four points, with just nine matches remaining.
However, Notts County lead the way in the National League’s golden boot race as striker Macaulay Langstaff netted another two goals on Saturday, to take his tally to an incredible 35 goals in 36 matches this season. While Cedwyn Scott is second in the Magpies’ goalscorers charts with 14 goals to his name.
At Meadow Lane, Notts County have recorded 43 points in 18 matches, scoring 40 goals in that time and conceding just 10. The Magpies have lost just once all season at home, however, have been held four times this season.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires extended their unbeaten streak at the Silverlake Stadium to five matches at the weekend with a single, spectacular strike from Danny Whitehall earning Eastleigh all three points against Oldham Athletic.
Just one defeat in the last nine matches has seen the Spitfires climb to fifth position in the table on a tally of 60 points, five points inside the play-off places.
Eastleigh will look to continue a recent run of form on the road and make it five wins in the last six away matches as they try to edge closer to a season finale.
The Spitfires are bolstered by the return of Ousseynou Cisse to the squad having served his one-match suspension on Saturday, however Kairo Mitchell still has a further game to sit out before his reinclusion.
New signing Gerry McDonagh will be hoping to start once again in order to rival top scorer Whitehall who leads Eastleigh’s golden boot race with 14 goals for the season so far.
While the Vanarama National League’s February Player of the Month Charlie Carter is six goals behind in second place.
