Eastleigh return home to the Silverlake Stadium after two matches on the road and face Oldham Athletic in the 37th matchday of the Vanarama National League on Saturday 11th March with a 3pm kick-off. Preview in association with Unibet.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires will look to extend a four-match unbeaten streak at the Silverlake Stadium and instantly get back on track after a seven-match unbeaten streak came to an end in midweek with a narrow 1-0 loss away at Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

A single goal was enough to separate the two sides and Eastleigh were reduced to ten-men when Ousseynou Cissé was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

Cissé joins Kairo Mitchell on the suspension list, while Corey Panter comes the other way having served a three-match suspension and the defender is available for selection.

Despite the defeat in midweek, Eastleigh remain in the play-off positions taking up seventh position, four points clear of the dotted line and Southend United in eighth.

Danny Whitehall leads the Spitfires’ golden boot race with 13 goals for the season so far and two of those came against this weekend’s opponents. While Charlie Carter is five goals behind in second place.

Oldham Athletic:

Oldham Athletic helped Eastleigh’s push for the play-offs in midweek by defeating third-placed Woking 1-0 at home thanks to a 93rd-minute winner from Nathan Sheron.

Tuesday’s victory was the Latic’s third win in their last four matches, all of which came against teams currently occupying the play-off spots, in Barnet, Chesterfield, and Woking.

This run has pulled Oldham well clear of the relegation zone and up into 14th position, 11 points from the drop zone.

However, despite winning their last two matches on the road, away from home is where the Latics’ troubles have lied this season, winning just three matches in 17 attempts so far this campaign and picking up a total of 14 points in that time.

Having scored against the Spitfires in the reverse fixture, Mike Fondop-Talum is Oldham’s top scorer this season with eight goals this season closely followed by Ben Tollitt on seven.

Fixture History:

The only time these two sides have faced off was earlier this season in September, where Oldham came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 in the 89th minute thanks to a winning goal from Charlie Wellens, which remains his only goal of this campaign.
