Eastleigh are at the Silverlake Stadium for a second consecutive fixture as they host yet another promotion-hopeful Woking in the 28th matchday of the Vanarama National League on Saturday 4th February with kick-off at 3:00pm. Preview in association with Unibet.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires will be looking to bounce back after only their third defeat at home all season last time out falling 2-0 to Barnet in midweek.
Prior to that loss, the Spitfires had won two matches on the spin with victories over Braintree Town and Southend United in the previous matches.
However, the most recent defeat has seen Eastleigh drop one position into 10th but despite that remain just one point off the play-off spots.
Lewis Payne made his Spitfires debut in midweek having joined on loan from Southampton while Eastleigh are also bolstered by the acquisition of new striker Kairo Mitchell from Notts County having seen Tristan Abraham move on loan to League Two side Gillingham on Deadline Day.
Alfie Lloyd will try to get back onto the scoresheet having failed to score for the first time in five matches as he looks to close the gap at the top of the Spitfires’ goal-scoring charts which is currently topped by Danny Whitehall with 10 goals.
Woking:
Since the two sides met in the FA Trophy third round, Woking have gone on a five-match unbeaten streak winning four of those matches.
That draw came in the Cards’ latest outing at home to Torquay United with a Padraig Amond goal being cancelled out in the second half by the Gulls.
Woking remained in third position despite that result, however, the Cards have now played two more fixtures than the team directly behind them in Chesterfield with only one point separating the two teams.
There are 15 points between Woking and Eastleigh going into the match yet despite the margin both teams have already recorded a victory over the other this season.
Reece Grego-Cox is currently Woking’s top scorer this season having scored nine goals, however with Amond scoring last time out that lead at the top of the charts has been reduced to two goals as Amond now has seven for the campaign.
Fixture History:
Having faced off twice already this season, the two sides will be very familiar with each other. The first of which was decided by a singular goal from Jahmari Clarke at the Kingfield Stadium.
Eastleigh got their revenge in the second meeting knocking Woking out of the FA Trophy thanks to first-half goals from JJ McKiernan and Whitehall.
This is the first meeting between the sides at the Silverlake Stadium this season, with the Spitfires having recorded the double over the Cards last season.
Overall, the two sides have faced off 24 times in their history, with Woking edging Eastleigh in the head-to-head having won eight of those matches. The Spitfires have won six of the 22 fixtures between the two teams. There have been a whopping 10 draws in this pairing previously, once again indicating a very even battle over the years.
Head-to-Head (Last Five):
20/12/22: Woking 0-2 Eastleigh
29/10/22: Woking 1-0 Eastleigh
07/05/22: Woking 1-2 Eastleigh
25/09/21: Eastleigh 3-2 Woking
10/04/21: Eastleigh 0-0 Woking
