Eastleigh are on the road for the first time in 2023 as they travel to Grosvenor Vale to face Wealdstone in the 25th matchday of the Vanarama National League on Saturday 7th January with a 3pm kick-off. Preview in association with Unibet.
Wealdstone:
Wealdstone have won just once in their last five matches in all competitions, most recently coming off the back of a 2-1 FA Trophy defeat at Chelmsford City.
Despite the run, the Stones still are placed 10th in the league just one point from the Spitfires having played a game less.
Grosvenor Vale has been a happy hunting ground in recent weeks for the Royals having gone unbeaten in their last three matches most notably drawing 0-0 to Wrexham to knock the Welsh outfit off top spot.
Nathan Ferguson comes into the match in fine form having scored three goals in his last three matches. Wealdstone’s top goalscorer Olufela Olomola who is on six for the campaign.
Eastleigh:
Eastleigh began the new year with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Dorking Wanderers at the Silverlake Stadium.
However, it is away from home that they hope the new year will bring new fortunes. The Spitfires currently sit in the bottom three of the league based on performances on the road, picking up just one win and six points in 12 matches.
Though the home form has been sensational and has been counteracting the away performances, so much so that Eastleigh jumped up from 11th and into the play-off positions from the victory last time out.
QPR loanee Alfie Lloyd is finding his feet in blue and white and has scored three goals in his last two appearances. Charlie Carter’s brace saw him take his tally to six for the season and close the lead to Danny Whitehall in Eastleigh’s golden boot to just three goals.
Fixture History:
The two teams have only crossed paths six times in their history, with the Spitfires dominating the head-to-head having won on four of those occasions.
One of which came in Eastleigh’s first home game of this season, with Tristan Abrahams’ goal enough to separate the two teams.
Eastleigh managed the double over the Stones last season too, however Wealdstone’s only victory did come at home, thanks to a thrilling 4-3 in 2020.
