Eastleigh welcome Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham to the Silverlake Stadium in the Vanarama National League on Saturday 10th December with a 3pm kick-off. Preview in association with Unibet.

Eastleigh:

Eastleigh returned to winning ways last weekend with a vital 1-0 win over fellow play-off chasers Boreham Wood. A Tristan Abrahams penalty was all that separated the two sides and stopped a streak of three consecutive defeats for the Spitfires.

The Silverlake Stadium remains a fortress for Eastleigh who have lost just once in 13 matches on home soil and victory saw Eastleigh jump up from 12th position to ninth meaning the Spitfires remain just two points adrift of the play-off positions.

Abrahams’ goal last weekend saw the forward move level with Charlie Carter on four goals for the season, just three behind the prolific Danny Whitehall who heads the scoring charts with eight in all competitions.

Wrexham:

Wrexham arrive at the Silverlake in their worst patch of form all season, yet they are still unbeaten in nine league matches. The Red Dragons have drawn two of their last three matches which has seen them relinquish the top spot in the table to Notts County, the team they last lost to in the Vanarama National League.

Last time out, Wrexham saw victory snatched away from them at the death away at York City. A late 88th-minute opening goal from Thomas O’Connor was responded to with an even later 92nd-minute equaliser by Manny Doku meaning the two sides shared the points last weekend.

The Red Dragons’ top goal scorer Paul Mullin currently sits second in the National League’s Golden Boot race with 14 goals but will be looking to amend going two away matches without a goal in order to close the gap to the top of those charts which is currently five goals.

Previous Meetings:

Having already faced off this season, Eastleigh will be seeking revenge for a late turnaround in Wales on the opening day of the season which saw the Spitfires fall to a 2-1 defeat at the Racecourse Ground. In the 18 matches between both teams, Wrexham comfortably lead the head-to-head between the two sides, winning eight, while the Spitfires have won just twice, however the spoils have been shared the eight remaining times.

Despite the record, all of Wrexham’s dropped points so far this season have come on the road, and the Spitfires’ boast the best home-record in the league after their opponents this weekend, setting it up perfectly for a mouth-watering tie.
