The 2025/26 FA Cup campaign continues on Sunday 2nd November. The Spitfires are in FA Cup First Round action this weekend as they host League Two side Walsall with kick-off at 2:15pm.
Eastleigh:
Scott Bartlett’s side head into Sunday’s game against Walsall in good form following last weekend’s victory over Morecambe and they will be confident of potentially causing a memorable FA Cup upset.
The Spitfires find themselves in 12th position in the National League just five points off the play-off positions and confidence around the squad has been building nicely over the past few weeks under Scott Bartlett’s management.
Eastleigh comfortably beat Hampton and Richmond 2-0 in the capital to secure qualification to the first round proper. A fantastic strike from Jake Vokins and a goal from Harvey Saunders was enough to seal the victory.
Walsall:
The Saddlers have been in flying form this season and currently sit at the top of the League Two standings, however, they have only managed to register one win in their previous five games in all competitions.
The West Midlands side have had a mixed journey in the FA Cup in recent seasons with their most notable campaign being the 2022/23 season when they were defeated by Leicester City in the fourth round.
Walsall’s last victory on the road came at Accrington Stanley on the 27th September and the Saddlers will be hoping to end this run at the Silverlake on Sunday afternoon.
Bartlett’s Pre-Match Thoughts:
Bartlett: “We’re coming up against a really good team that will test us in lots of ways and we need to be really mindful of that and respectful to the opposition.
“Every year there are a number of teams from the league below getting through in this round and the message is why can’t we be one of those?”
Walsall’s last five results:
28/10/2025 | Walsall 0-0 Chelsea U21 | EFL Trophy
25/10/2025 | Cheltenham Town 1-0 Walsall | League Two
18/10/2025 | Walsall 1-2 Barrow | League Two
11/10/2025 | Crawley 1-1 Walsall | League Two
07/10/2025 | Walsall 0-1 Northampton | EFL Trophy
