The 2025/26 Enterprise National League season gets underway on Saturday 9th August. The Spitfires travel to Brackley Town to begin their campaign with kick-off at 3pm.
Brackley Town:
The Saints have had a testing pre-season, winning only 4 of their 8 matches.
They did, however, find some impressive results as they drew 0-0 in a tough match up against League One opposition Northampton Town. On top of that, goals from Morgan Roberts and Michael Nottingham gave them a win against Leicester City U21s.
After an impressive campaign last season, Brackley Town became champions of the National League North and find themselves in the National League for the first time in the club’s history. Following last season’s success, the Saints will be looking to carry on their momentum to establish themselves in the National League.
The Saints are starting their season at home in back to back years, they lost 3-0 to Scunthorpe United in last year’s opener.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires will be looking to kick on in the league after a productive pre-season albeit one that ended with a 2-1 defeat against Farnborough.
Eastleigh picked up two wins in their pre-season tests against AFC Bournemouth U21s and Salisbury. Despite the results, Kelvin Davis’ side also displayed impressive performances at home to Southampton and Swindon Town.
After a busy transfer window, plenty of players will have the opportunity to make their competitive debuts for the club in the match.
Eastleigh won 2-0 away to Maidenhead United to begin last season thanks to an own goal and a Jake Vokins strike. The Spitfires will be hoping to start this campaign in similar style.
This season opener will be a different test for the Spitfires with it being the first time the two sides have met in history.
Davis’ Pre-Match Thoughts:
Davis: “It’ll be a tough challenge. The first game of the season being away from home and against a promotion-winning team so they’ll be full of the joys of it being their first year in the National League.”
