The Spitfires’ 2024/25 Vanarama National League campaign draws to a close, as we host York City at the Silverlake Stadium on Monday 5th May, with a kick-off time of 3pm.

Eastleigh:

Coming into this one, the Spitfires have been on a solid run of form. Last time out, we made the short trip up the road to the Laithwaite Community Stadium to face Woking, and picked up a point there, thanks to a stunning brace from Tyrese Shade.

Jake Vokins made his first league start since November during that one, after returning from a lengthy injury. Also, Solomon Nwabuokei was named in the squad for the first time since September, after he had also been forced away from the pitch for an extended period.

The last time the Spitfires played on home soil, we hosted Yeovil Town. Bang on the half hour mark, Chris Maguire provided a fine finish to give Eastleigh a one goal lead that we would not lose. Maguire has found the back of the net in both of our last two home matches.

The Spitfires currently are sat in 11th place in the league standings, and will be looking to get a result this afternoon so that a place within the top half of the table can be secured.

York City:

The away side have been on a real hot patch of form as of late, and have won six out of their last seven games. In their last game, they comfortably beat Solihull Moors, with their goals coming through Cameron John and Dipo Akinyemi that day for the North Yorkshire side.

Earlier in the month, Ollie Pearce netted a hat trick against Aldershot Town, taking his tally up to 30 for the season. Going into the final league game of the campaign, he sits seven goals clear of his nearest competitor in the race to become the league’s top goalscorer.

After Barnet clinched the league title during the last game week, York will have to try and get things done through the play-offs. They have racked up an impressive tally of 93 points this season, and have secured second place in the league standings.
