The Spitfires are back in Vanarama National League action, as we make the trip up to Staffordshire to face Tamworth at the Lamb Ground on Saturday 29th March, with a kick-off time of 3pm.
Tamworth:
This afternoon’s hosts have been on an strong run of form as of late. They have gone unbeaten in each of their last seven games.
Last time out, they made the long trip up to Tyne and Wear to face Gateshead, and earned an impressive 2-0 win. Dan Creaney and Tom McGlinchey both put their names on the scoresheet during the second-half, which helped their side on the way to securing the win.
In their last home game, Tamworth beat Solihull Moors in the Birmingham Senior Cup clash, meaning that they will now advance to the Semi-Finals of the competition.
On the attacking end, Creaney has been in solid form this season. He has racked up a tally of 16 goals for the season, and will be a threat this afternoon for the home side.
Tamworth jumped up into the top ten in the standings, following their win against Gateshead, and they will be looking to maintain that this afternoon.
Tamworth’s last five results:
22/03/25 | Gateshead 0-2 Tamworth | VNL
18/03/25 | Tamworth 4-1 Solihull Moors | Birmingham Senior Cup
15/03/25 | Dagenham & Redbridge 1-3 Tamworth | VNL

Eastleigh:
Last time out, the Spitfires hosted Southend United at the Silverlake Stadium. The away side had a two goal lead at the break, which left the Spitfires with work to do going into the second-half. Tyrese Shade would pull a goal back in the 55th minute, before later going on to hit the post. It wasn’t quite enough, with Southend going on to secure the win.
Shade’s goal took his tally up to 12 for the season in the league. He is now just two direct goal contributions away from 20 for the season, after taking his assist tally into account.
Former Tamworth man, Nathan Tshikuna will be unavailable to face his former side, as he serves his final game of his three match suspension.
The Spitfires now sit in 11th place in the standings, and will be looking to leapfrog Tamworth and get back up into the top ten, with a win at the Lamb Ground.
Previous meetings:
The two teams have only met each other once before. Earlier in the season, Paul McCallum netted in the sixth minute, giving Eastleigh an early lead that they wouldn’t lose.
07/09/24 | Eastleigh 1-0 Tamworth | VNL
