The Spitfires are on the road again in the Vanarama National League, as we make the trip to the VBS Community Stadium to face Sutton United on Saturday 25th January, with a kick-off time of 3pm.

Sutton United:

Sutton have been on a good run of form since the festive period. They have won twice, and drawn three times.

Their most recent result would arguably be the most impressive of the lot. They traveled to the LNER Community Stadium to face high flying York City, and beat them 2-1.

Will Davies netted two goals within the first 25 minutes, to give the South London side an early advantage.

Dipo Akinyemi was able to pull a goal back with less than ten minutes remaining, but it was not enough for York, and they fell to defeat.

Sutton United’s last five results:

18/01/25 | York City 1-2 Sutton United | VNL

15/01/25 | Sutton United 2-2 Wealdstone | VNL

07/01/25 | Sutton United 1-0 Tamworth | Isuzu FA Trophy

01/01/25 | Sutton United 1-1 Aldershot Town | VNL

26/12/24 | Barnet 3-3 Sutton United | VNL

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires were beaten for the first time since early November in their last game. Altrincham visited the Silverlake Stadium, and beat ten man Eastleigh 2-1.

Last time the Spitfires played away from home, they beat Solihull Moors at the ARMCO Arena. Tyrese Shade netted an early goal against his former side, and Solihull were not able to come up with a response, meaning the Spitfires would win.

During the week, Rekeil Pyke and Jesurun Uchegbulam signed for Eastleigh on loan, and will be looking to make their debuts this weekend.

The Spitfires are level on points, games played and goal difference with Sutton, so will have the opportunity to leapfrog the South London club with a win.

Previous meetings:

The two sides first meeting for just over three years happened earlier this season. Eduino Vaz gave Sutton an early lead, but would see his side get pegged back just 24 minutes later, with Paul McCallum finding the back of the net.

The remainder of the game was tightly contested, but neither side was able to find a winner.
