The Spitfires are back in Vanarama National League action, with Oldham Athletic making the trip down to the Silverlake Stadium on Tuesday 7th January, with a kick-off time of 7:45pm.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires were in action over the weekend, in the Isuzu FA Trophy. Goals from Paul McCallum, Richard Brindley and Alex Stepien-Iwumene helped the Spitfires on their way towards earning a win against Basford United, and a spot in the fifth round of the tournament.

Academy products Connor Underhill and Liam Webber both got involved in the win, with Underhill making his first Eastleigh start, and Webber making his debut off the bench.

On New Year’s Day, the Spitfires knocked Barnet off top spot in the league. The two sides were locked together in a 1-1 draw at the Silverlake Stadium, with Tyrese Shade getting amongst the goals again for Eastleigh that day.

The Spitfires’ win over Basford extended our unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions, having not lost since the beginning of November.

Oldham Athletic:

The Latics have been in impressive form this season, and have only lost three times in the league.

Their most recent defeat came in their last outing. They made the trip up to Hartlepool on New Year’s Day, and were beaten 2-1 by the County Durham side.

Josh Lundstram put Oldham ahead in the 20th minute, but a reasonably quick comeback from Hartlepool earned them all three points.

Before this, Oldham had gone eight games unbeaten in the league, with six of those results being wins.

The Greater Manchester side are currently in fifth place in the Vanarama National League table, but have multiple games in hand over those above them.

The other time the sides met at the Silverlake Stadium, it was Eastleigh that came out on top. Danny Whitehall scored an opener in the 72nd minute, and Oldham could not respond meaning the Spitfires would go on to win that one 1-0.
