Following some late drama at Huish Park, the Spitfires travel back to Hampshire with a point.
The home side went a goal up on two occasions, with the Spitfires managing to respond on both occasions to earn a hard fought point.
Five minutes into it, Kofi Shaw had the first look on goal. He had a shot from the edge of the box, but would see it get blocked by the Eastleigh defence.
Sean McGurk had the next attempt on goal just over ten minutes later. He bent a shot just wide of the post from the edge of the box, with the home side seemingly pushing for an early lead of the game.
The next big chance of the game didn’t come until just before the half hour mark. Charlie Cooper had a shot from inside the box blocked, before he followed up and saw his second effort get tipped over the crossbar by McDonnell.
Seven minutes later, Cooper had another chance to open the scoring. He attempted to find the bottom corner of the goal this time, but had his shot matched again by McDonnell, who got down low and produced a diving save to keep the score level.
McDonnell then produced another fine save just before the break. Shaw found himself with the ball at his feet just in front of the goal, but was denied from opening the scoring.
Yeovil took the lead of the game early on into the second-half, with McGurk getting onto the end of a pass across goal, he slotted the ball home from close-range.
McGurk attempted to score his second of the afternoon with just over 20 minutes remaining, but had his low driven effort gathered by McDonnell.
Angel Waruih manufactured a big chance in the 69th minute, and looked set to level the scoring after producing a fine bit of skill to deceive his man. He turned before dinking the ball over Wright, but had his shot cleared off the line by the Yeovil defence.
Jake Wannell came inches away from doubling Yeovil’s lead, but glanced his headed effort just wide of the post.
Paul McCallum would then go up the other end and have a shot of his own. From a tight angle, he released the ball but was not able to beat Wright, who got down low to deny him.
Humphries popped up in the 80th minute with an equaliser. He got up high to head the ball, and looped it into the top left corner, opening his Spitfires account in the process.
Morgan Williams would then go on to find what looked to be a late winner, in the 89th minute. His goal was cancelled out quickly by Richard Brindley, who showed some fine skill before firing the ball home to earn the Spitfires a point late on.
