A bullet of a goal from Ludwig Francillette helps the Spitfires to complete the league double over Maidenhead United.
The Spitfires gained the lead just over a quarter of an hour into the game, and would couple the goal with a clean sheet on their way to earning a big win on home soil.
Maidenhead would push for an equaliser towards the end of the game, but could not find one.
Lloyd Humphries had a go on goal in the opening moments of the game, but saw his shot get blocked away from the target.
Francillette blasted the Spitfires into the lead 16 minutes into it, after Tyrese Shade made a fantastic run into the box before squaring the ball into his path. His shot from around six yards out nearly broke the back of the net, as it cannoned its way into the top corner of the goal.
The next chance came just after the half hour mark, when Niall Maher met a corner but could only manage to clip his shot just wide of the target.
The last chance of a strong half from the Spitfires came in the 42nd minute, when Scott Quigley tried to double the Spitfires lead, but couldn’t strike the ball sweetly enough to be able to direct it towards goal.
Almost as soon as the break was over, Francillette came just inches away from scoring his second goal of the afternoon. He stretched before firing the ball onto the crossbar, after receiving a headed pass.
Will de Havilland had attempted to level the scoring in the 63rd minute, but saw his headed effort go straight into the palms of Joe McDonnell.
Maher had a go on goal not so long after Maidenhead’s chance, but could not find the target with his shot from the edge of the area.
Sam Barrett would then go on to have the Magpies’ best chance of the game. He headed the ball low towards the bottom left corner of the goal, forcing McDonnell to get down low and produce and exceptional save to deny him.
Maidenhead continued to push for an equaliser, with their next chance coming when Tyrese Dyce headed the ball just over the crossbar from close range.
Despite the late push from the visitors, the Spitfires would hold firm and keep a clean sheet on their way to earning a big win at the Silverlake Stadium.
