The Spitfires are in Boxing Day action in the Vanarama National League as we travel to Hush Park to face Yeovil Town on Thursday 26th December, with a kick-off time of 3pm.

Yeovil Town:

This afternoon’s hosts have had an impressive start to their first campaign back in the Vanarama National League and are jut a point away from a play-off spot going into this afternoon’s game.

Late drama when they faced Hartlepool United at the weekend saw them make the long trip back down south empty handed. Yeovil found an equaliser through Kofi Shaw with ten minutes remaining, only to then see Gary Madine win the game for Hartlepool just three minutes later.

Last time the Glovers played at Hush Park, they won. Goals from Aaron Jarvis, Ed James and Brett McGavin helped them towards earning victory over Braintree Town.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires faced Maidenhead United last time out, and came out on top against the Berkshire side.

An absolute bullet of a strike from Ludwig Francillette fired the Spitfires into a lead that they would not lose just 16 minutes into the game. The goal, coupled with a disciplined defensive display meant that the Spitfires’ last home game of 2024 would be a good one.

The result helped the Spitfires to make a return to the top half of the table, and extended our unbeaten run to six games.

Tyrese Shade provided a stunning assist for Francillette’s goal, making it three direct goal involvements n his last two appearances.

Previous meetings:

The two sides did not meet last season, with Yeovil spending the year in the Vanarama National League South. They would go on to win the league at the first time of asking and make their return to the Vanarama National League.

The last meeting between the two sides came back in March of 2023. A second-half goal from Matt Worthington helped the Glovers on their way to sealing a win against a ten man Eastleigh side.
