The Spitfires are held to a draw against Wealdstone on a wet and windy afternoon at the Silverlake Stadium.
Noa Boutin scored his first ever Eastleigh goal early on, which meant the Spitfiress would have the lead going into the break.
A second-half goal from Wealdstone would mean that the Spitfires would be forced to share the points.
In the seventh minute, Boutin found himself through on goal with plenty of time. A composed left footed shot nestled into the bottom left hand corner of Jacob Adams’ goal.
Paul McCallum connected brilliantly with a volley in an awkward position, however Wealdstone had enough men behind the ball and made the block with ease.
An uneventful 20 minutes passed, whilst Wealdstone had the majority of possession, Eastleigh remained the team most likely to score with a range of fast paced yet unsuccessful counter attacks.
McCallum’s strike from a difficult angle forced an uncomfortable save from Adams and was put behind for an Eastleigh corner.
What seemed to be one of Wealdstone’s most promising attacks ended with Enzio Boldewijn firing a volley off his shin high and wide.
With 38 minutes on the clock, Max Kretzschmar met a squared ball on the edge of the Eastleigh box and shot towards Joe McDonnell’s goal. McDonnell’s brilliant reflex save put the ball behind for a Wealdstone corner.
Tyrese Shade met a McCallum through ball, however he couldn’t produce an accurate enough finish as he forces Adams into another save.
Wealdstone immediately responded with an almost identical chance that was saved by McDonell down to his left hand side.
The half came to a close with Eastleigh in the driving seat.
Boutin’s looping cross almost proved to be a nuisance for Adams as it began to curl towards the Wealdstone box, however the score line remained the same as the ball flew out for a goal kick.
An equaliser was scored by Wealdstone as a cross from Jaydn Mundle-Smith was met with a header by Samuel Ashford.
A brilliant interception by Dominic Gape had the Spitfires runnning full steam ahead towards the Wealdstone goal. Gape’s through ball to Shade hit McCallum and the chance was squandered.
With just 5 minutes to go, McDonnell got down low to deny Georgiou from completing Wealdstone’s turn around.
Six minutes were added onto the 90 which sprung questions of whether there was going to be a late winner.
The final whistle was blown and the points were shared between Eastleigh and Wealdstone.
