The Spitfires are back at home for the start of their Emirates FA Cup journey. We face Southend United at the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday 12 October 2024, with a kick-off time of 3pm.
Eastleigh:
The Spitfires are up against Southend United in an all National League tie in the famous competition.
It’s an opportunity to take a break from league action following defeat at the hands of Forest Green Rovers who currently sit in second place.
The Spitfires enjoyed a fantastic run in the Emirates FA Cup last season when we reached the Third Round of the competition beating Reading along the way.
Despite the loss at home last weekend, Eastleigh are determined to return to winning ways and progress through into the next round of the FA Cup.
Southend United:
Southend United currently sit in 17th in the Vanarama National League and have won only once in the last five league games.
Their previous game was a 2-0 loss to in-form Maidenhead United who are 19th in the league but have won their last three games, scoring six and conceding two.
Right-back Gus Scott-Morris is a clear standout for Southend, scoring nine goals and assisting once from a defensive position. He is currently joint second top goalscorer, just two goals behind AFC Fylde’s, Nick Haughton.
The Shrimper’s 2-0 win over Eastleigh on the 10th of September is sure to give Southend some confidence coming into this tie but by the same token, will surely put fire in the stomach of the Spitfires.
