Eastleigh Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Niall Maher following the end of his contract at Grimsby Town*

The 29-year-old joins the Spitfires with a wealth of experience in both the Football League and the National League, having made just shy of 100 appearances in the Football League and well over 100 appearances in the National League.

The central defender most recently played for Grimsby Town and during his time there he made over 60 appearances in League Two and found the back of the net four times during his time in North East Lincolnshire.

He played the entirety of Grimsby’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium during the 2022/23 campaign.

In the season before that, whilst playing for FC Halifax Town, Niall’s impressive performances earned him a place in the National League Team of the Season. He also captained the side during that season.

He began his career at Bolton Wanderers, coming up through the ranks in their youth system. He made five appearances for them in the Championship during the 2015/16 season.

In the season before that, Niall made 10 appearances in the Championship whilst on loan at Blackpool.
