Eastleigh played their final home match of pre-season and ended with an impressive 1-0 victory over League Two outfit Swindon Town

An excellent start from Eastleigh three minutes in, as a cross put in by Richard Brindley fell to midfielder Solomon Nwabuokei just inside the box, who lashed the ball on the half volley, hitting the post and going in giving the Spitfires an early lead. The home side continued to apply pressure with Brindley putting in another dangerous cross.

Swindon’s first chance of the game came in the 12th minute, a shot from Harry Smith was blocked well, and Paul Glatzel scuffed the rebound.

The away side came close to an equaliser in the 32nd minute as a corner was headed over the bar from close range. Minutes later, great skill down the left hand side from Deji Sotona earnt Eastleigh a free-kick, but it came to nothing.

Tyrese Shade showed tremendous ability to find space to put in a cross, as the Spitfires searched for a second before half time, but the cross was cleared.

Chances were few and far between at the start the of the second half, the only notable effort coming from Swindon forward Glatzel, his shot whistled wide. Minutes later, a good flick on from Paul McCallum put Scott Quigley through on goal, but the Town keeper came out well.

Late pressure from The Robins, with crosses flying in, but Eastleigh were able to hold on and earn a deserved 1-0 victory.
