The young Spitfires progress in the FA youth cup following a 4-2 win against AFC Stoneham under the lights at the Silverlake Stadium.

Goals from Ashton Pickles, Lewis Colvin, Kyran Samadi and Ethan Duell-Merritt helped them on their way to the win.

Billy Brackley came close just moments into the game when he connected with a corner but his shot was saved by Josh Carpenter.

Ashton Pickles put the young Spitfires ahead in the sixth minute with a cool finish into the bottom right corner.

Yuvras Landa came close to doubling the lead in the 18th minute with a shot from the edge of the box that looked destined to find the bottom corner that was saved by Carpenter.

Lewis Colvin earnt the first booking of the game for bringing down a Stoneham attacker during a counter attack in the 38th minute.

Stoneham came close to equalising in the 42nd minute when Ethan Grundy sent an effort towards the bottom right corner that was saved by Harrison.

The young Spitfires earnt a penalty in injury time that was blasted home by Lewis Colvin in convincing fashion to double the lead.

Brackley curled the ball goalwards from range in the 52nd minute but his effort was saved by Carpenter.

Joe Ryan rounded Carpenter in the 55th minute and put the ball in the back of the net but his effort was chalked off as offside.

Landa had a go from outside the box in the 66th minute but his shot went just over the bar as the young Spitfires pushed to extend their lead further.

Stoneham pulled one back in the 71st minute when the ball was sent across goal into the path of Sam Macleod who poked it home.

It did not take long for the young Spitfires to respond after Kyran Samadi calmy put the ball into the bottom right corner to extend the lead in the 77th minute.

Aidan Farndell scored Stoneham’s second in the 83rd minute after a scramble in the box to bring them back to being just the one goal behind.

Duell-Merritt added another for the young Spitfires in injury time to seal the win putting them through to the next round of the FA youth cup.
