The Spitfires are in action again in the Vanarama National League as they head over to Roots Hall to face Southend United on Friday 25th August, with a kick off time of 7:45pm.

Southend United:

The hosts have lost their last two games, they faced Hartlepool last time out losing 3-2 to the County Durham side.

Jack Bridge and Gus Scott-Morriss were their scorers on that day. But Charlie Seaman’s 73rd minute strike sealed the win for the visitors at Roots Hall.

Harry Cardwell will be one to watch for the hosts as he has scored three times in their opening four games of the season.

Eastleigh:

Last time out the Spitfires lost 2-0 on the road to Rochdale so they will be continuing their search for a first win of the season as they head over to Essex.

Ian Henderson and Kairo Mitchell’s first half goals meant that the Spitfires lost for the first time this season during their first ever visit to the Crown Oil Arena.

Southend will be looking to keep Paul McCallum quiet after he has scored two goals in our opening four games of the season.

Previous meetings:

The Spitfires did the double over Southend last season beating them 3-1 in their last visit to Roots Hall in January thanks to goals from Alfie Lloyd, Charlie Carter and JJ McKiernan.

When Southend visited the Silverlake Stadium Danny Whitehall scored two freekicks late on to give the Spitfires the victory over the Essex side on that day.
