Eastleigh are at home for a second consecutive match as they host York City at the Silverlake Stadium in the 34th matchday of the Vanarama National League on Tuesday 28th February with a 7:45pm kick-off. Preview in association with Unibet.

Eastleigh:

The Spitfires’ extended their unbeaten run to five league games after earning a hard-fought point with fellow play-off chasers Bromley despite having ten men for the majority of the second half.

Corey Panter will begin his three-match suspension having been shown the red card on Saturday, while fellow centre-half partner Christian Maghoma will miss out after sustaining an injury in the same game.

The result at the weekend saw Eastleigh maintain the gap to Bromley in the table and further solidify their position in the play-off places, currently sitting in seventh position, two points clear of Boreham Wood in eighth.

Joe McDonnell kept his fourth clean sheet in five league matches last time out and also saved a penalty against Maidstone United in the match prior, as the Spitfires’ defence proves to be a major factor in the promotion push.

At the other end of the pitch, Danny Whitehall tops Eastleigh’s goal-scoring charts, having netted 12 times so far in this campaign.

York City:

York City ended a streak of seven matches without a victory in the league, at the weekend by defeating Yeovil Town 2-1.

Lenell John-Lewis popped up with an 83rd-minute winner to break the streak that had seen York City drop to 18th place, just one point from the relegation zone.

While the victory did little to lift their position in the table it did extend the gap to the relegation zone to four points, with the teams around York all dropping points at the weekend.

The Minstermen have only won four of 16 games on the road and are without an away league victory since December 10 where they defeated Woking 2-0.

John-Lewis is the club’s top scorer having netted an impressive 11 goals this campaign, despite the struggles of York City and the Minstermen have bolstered their options in the attacking areas with Watford-loanee Shaqai Forde. The striker is already second in their top goal scorer charts, having scored five goals in seven matches since joining in December.

Fixture History:

The two sides have only faced off three times in their history, with one of each outcome.

Earlier this season, the Spitfires recorded their first away win of the season at York City thanks to a headed goal from JJ McKiernan.
